An entrance framed by gradated trees and hues of plantings is a house enhanced through design. Carry the concept through to the backyard. Here, water streams down several rocky slopes, oozing through the nooks and crevices of rough-hewn rocks into a pool below. Plants drape themselves over large weathered stones that clamber up and along the pool’s sides. Colourful blooms hang from the arbour above the patio, supplying shade and restorative powers. Vines entwine and tomato plants combine – the pretty and the domestic, aesthetic and the practical untied as one.
